Man cannot live on fine cocktails alone. Here we find a selection of victuals notable for their subtle charm in lieu of any sense of excitement or flair. Other than the “Cheese Balls,” even the names don’t have any, er, “balls.” “Salmon Delights,” “Caviar Cuties” and “Celery Snips” sound about as exciting as watching glassware dry (“right side up” to avoid retaining soap fumes as described on page 2). Frankly, these are hors d’oeuvres more suited to grannies than men who probably fought the Nazis at Bastogne.
